Travel Diaries in Dublin
Last year, in October we went to Dublin, Ireland.
We spent two days here sight seeing and just seeing what the city has to offer. Our trip to Dublin, was a fairly last minute plan, we stayed in an apartment right in the centre with easy access to everywhere.
On our first full day we started by having breakfast in a close by cafe called 'Dwarf Jar'. There were plenty of options ranging from Paninis to Granola and something to suit everyone! I could easily have come back here the following day for breakfast. I went for granola with soy milk and then a banana which i chopped up and put into the granola along with a soy latte. Ethan had a panini which if I remember correctly was a Beef one, they also had a selection of fresh fruits available to purchase. If we had a few more days it would have been nice to come along in the evening as they have people performing live music there.
A trip to Dublin would not be complete with swinging by at the Guinness factory, it wasn't hard to find considering that once you come off the river you pretty much follow one main road and then there are sign posts leading you in the right direction.
We really enjoyed the Guinness storehouse, you are taken around at first with a tour guide who explains the history of Guinness as a brand and the factory itself. I found that it was a lot bigger than expected with facilities such as a large gift shop and a few cafes. after going around a few of floors we came across the tasting room, we queued up for around 10 minutes before entering a room where we were told all about the ingredients that actually go into the drink itself. In the room there were three large cylinders with smoke coming out of them, each one had a specific smell - one for each of the three main ingredients. After this room we then carried on into the next room which is where we had mini glasses of Guinness so that we could try it. Included in the price of your ticket is a pint of Guinness which can be redeemed on the top floor in the bar with 360 degree views of Dublin. It was quite crowded up here so be prepared to stand until you see a seat become available, the views were definitely worth it!
After this we headed to the airport by bus which is about a 30 minute journey and then had our dinner in the airport before boarding plane to come home, it was such a lovely trip and definitely a city which only really requires a two day trip in my opinion.
Highlight of the trip: The Guinness storehouse
Downfall of the trip: Not going to any bars in the temple bar area.

After here we went back to the apartment to shower and get ready. We went for a meal at a thai restaurant called Saba, I had the vegetable pad thai with no egg and a few cocktails.
The following day we were going to be heading back home, we had our flight at around 9pm which meant that we needed to fill our afternoon with things to do. We ended up walking around the city centre for a few hours, visiting trinity college and then a local park close by the university which I cant remember the name of.
Before going to Dublin, I had heard of a donut shop that sells vegan donuts! we happened to stumble across it, i got a raspberry one.
