A little while back I stumbled across Hampton and Vouis on instagram, me and my boyfriend tend to go out for lunch around once to twice a month typically on Sunday when we venture into the city centre. So we decided to stop off here for some lunch on a very typically rainy day in Manchester City Centre, we practically had to run there because of the downfall!
I was surprised I had never come across Hampton and Vouis before when we have been walking around Manchester. It is located by the town hall on princess street, really central! One thing to note which makes this cafe stand out is that they actually use a company called 'vegware' for there take out options, this is a biodegradable material and therefore is perfect for when you have forgotten to bring a reusable container or cup.
As most places do now cater for vegans its becoming easier and easier to eat out, I had heard that this cafe had a number of vegan options. They had milk alternatives for your hot drinks, vegan and gluten free cakes. They are open quite early in the morning so is a perfect option to grab your morning coffee on your way into work along with a slice of cake for later on that day.
The interior is lovely, its minimalistic and floral. With ambient lights, floral centre pieces, wooden tables and white wash walls you are bound to feel calm as soon as you enter. We were seated on the table that is along the window looking at the town hall. There is also the option to do take away.
I got the Vegan granola bowl with coconut yoghurt and a soy latte. I cant remember the exact name of what Ethan got, it was Salmon with Avocado on wholemeal bread and a glass of orange juice. My granola bowl was lovely, it was presented beautiful with the granola off to one side, a sauce drizzled on the top and small delicate petals laid on there as well. Something to be aware of would be that the yoghurt doesn't have a distinct coconut taste, so when I had some I was really worried that maybe I had ordered the wrong thing or there had been an error. Our server came over tentatively to ensure that everything was okay, he assured me everything was right but that it is a very subtle coconut taste which might be why I was unsure, he double checked it with the kitchen staff who confirmed the suspicions. I was also brought out extra coconut toppings to bring out the flavour a little more which was a really lovely touch from the staff that I appreciated a lot. When eating out as a vegan it is easy for there to slip ups its always best to double check if you are unsure but 99% of the time there's never an actual issue and its more in your head than anything.
They had a few over vegan options such as; Avocado Toast, Toasted banana bread and Acai bowls.
They had a range of non-vegan options such as; Salmon and Avocado on wholemeal bread, Poached egg dishes and salads.
Overall, I had a very pleasant experience and would love to come back, especially when they have a few more vegan options on the menu (if they don't already)
