A personal favourite of ours is the botanist, I had wanted to go in for years when passing I was always enticed by all the flowers, interior and the lighting. Last January we finally went in and had such a lovely meal and time there! The food is exceptional, the drinks menu is extensive although we're drinking our way around each cocktail on there every one that I had so far has been lovely! We have tried the majority of the gins as well. The atmosphere is so calming, you really feel welcome here. Most nights they have live music playing, you can check at your local botanist or the one that you plan on visiting for the times that they have live music. Since the first time in January we have been on multiple occasions to different venues for different occasions; date nights, Our anniversary and my birthday.
For starters this time, I had the humous. This comes on small oblong plate, with the bowl of humous to one side that it topped with what i think were toasted chickpeas (But I could be wrong) then the flatbread and veggies off to one side in a small plant pot. The humous was so good! You could tell that it was fresh. Ethan had the calamari which comes with creme fraiche and sweet chilli.
For mains, I had the falafel burger which I have had before. The burger is topped with a harissa jam, tomatoes, Tahini and Rocket. Then served in a toasted bun. The patty itself is really thick, such a nice change to other burgers I have had that are as thin as a sheet of paper. Although there is a lot in the burger it is not over facing and is just the right amount whilst still remaining filling. Ethan also got a a burger, he had the 'Crispy Chicken Burger' This is served in a hot toasted bun with a Katsu curry sauce, cucumber and red onions. I asked him to describe the burger to me, he said that the chicken was crispy on the outside just right in the middle, the katsu sauce is served cold with a bit of a kick to it but its nice cold because of how hot the burger is and has the right amount of lettuce/salad.
We didn't have desert this time, but they have a number of options which seem to change frequently. Not this time but the time before I had banana doughnuts with a peanut butter milkshake but this isn't on the menu anymore as I think it was seasonal for summer. They now have a chocolate mint mousse that is served with honeycomb and candyfloss!
Overall, I can not recommend the botanist enough! I would suggest it for absolutely any occasion! Date nights, Birthdays, Anniversary, Celebrating something, just a regular meal out or catch up with friends or even just for drinks. A lot of the botanists have an area that is specifically for drinks. They have a whole beer and ale 'inventory'. I would love to see a few more vegan options on the menu!
