Vegan Flapjacks
In this post I will be showing you how i make my vegan flapjacks.
Step One: To a bowl add the oats, flour and part of the sultanas.
Step Two: To a microwave safe bowl add the butter, sugar and syrup - place in the microwave on a low heat until they have completely melted in to each, keep checking every 60 seconds and storing the mixture. (Or you can heat them over the hob if you would prefer.)
Step Three: Whilst your mixture is in the microwave melting mix together the dry ingredients from step one and add in the cinnamon, flax seed and chia seed.
Step Four: Once you have your melted mixture and your dry mixture all done, its time to mix them together.
Slowly add in some of the melted mix into oat-y mixture and stir together and add some more of the mixture as it begins soaking up.
Once you have mixed it all together there should not be any dry mixture, if there is you need to keep mixing.
Step Five: Add in the remainder of your toppings and add extra if you feel like it, this is why I haven't given you an amount for the toppings as you add as many or as little as you like.
I started off with around a cup of sultanas and raisins but ended up with around double because after I had mixed all the toppings in I felt that it could do with a bit more.
Step Six: Lightly grease your tray for the flapjacks and set your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
If and when you are happy with the amount of toppings in the mixture, spoon and press it into the tray.
Step Seven: Pop the tray in the oven for around 15 minutes but come back to check at 10 minutes. Everyone's oven works differently with flapjacks and it also depends how thick or thin your mixture is, it may take slightly longer. The flapjacks should be a golden brown!
Step Eight: Leave the flapjacks to cool completely or til only slightly warm (if you eager!) before cutting them as they may crumble!
